151016-Breck-0100We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer this absolutely stunning, large country house to our guests, right in the heart of North Norfolks ‘Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. Brecks House lies down a tree lined driveway in a lovely, quiet rural location between the North Norfolk Villages of Wiveton and Letheringsett around 3 miles from the coast at Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea. Set in about an acre of gardens and with a further 2 acres of private paddock left to wild flowers this magnificent Georgian country pile is the perfect accommodation for large groups on holiday or any special occasion.

151016-Breck-096Brecks House has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms and is capable of sleeping up to 16 people, there are two large sitting rooms a formal dining room and a huge ‘live in’ kitchen, so plenty of room for large parties to spead out and not be crowded.

IMG_2631The owner of Brecks House deals in antiques and the house is full of gorgeous pieces from all era’s cleverly brought together to create what is a quite stunning interior that also includes some wonderfully quirky contemporary twists.

Part of the 1900 acre Bayfield Estate guests staying at Brecks House have access to the numerous permissive paths on the estate which runs from the coast at Blakeney and Cley inland to the Georgian market town of Holt. The walks are numerous and vary from hilly IMG_2639areas with coastal views to rural areas with lakes and rivers, it also includes access to much of the 120 acres of Repton styled parkland that Bayfield Hall is set in. Guests staying at Brecks House also have use of the ‘tennis court with a view’ at the Hall itself, around a 5 minute walk from the house.

IMG_2527The gravel areas at the front and rear of Brecks House could park 10 or more cars if required. We reccomend parking at the back of the property and using the rear entrance which enters in to the large tradesman’s hallway, perfect for storing all of your boots and jackets.

A doorway on the left of this hallway enters in to the massive kitchen which, as you would expect, is very well equipped and the ideal base for hosting dinner parties. It has a four oven AGA with its twin hot IMG_2555plates and warming plate as well a double electric oven with halogen hob and a huge selections of pots, pans, casseroles etc. making cooking for a group of 16 a breeze. The attention to detail and quality found throughout the house is evident in the beautiful handmade cabinets with integrated Miele appliances in the kitchen. There is also table in the kitchen which, with its IMG_2592leaves extended can seat up to 12 and a breakfast bar that seats four. A large glazed door opens from the kitchen on to the patio and overlooks the large garden. This door, the huge original sash windows and high ceilings make the kitchen a lovely light and airy room to spend time in. Back to the rear hallway and there are two further doors, one leading to a secondary rear flight of stairs and one to the large games/utility room which at one end houses a free to use pub pool table and at the other a washing machine and tumble drier.

IMG_2589From the kitchen the main hallway with its original Norfolk pamment flooring stretches nearly the full length of the house. Off it are the formal dining room which will comfortably seat 16, a large ground floor shower room and a useful pantry/storage room. This hallway leads in to the flagstone entrance hall off which are the houses two large sitting rooms. The more formal of the two has three big comfy sofas arranged around the large open fire and is perfect for relaxing in after a long walk IMG_2712(or large meal) or perhaps for taking afternoon tea! There is a 32inch smart TV tucked away in this room and it has two interesting ‘porthole’ windows that look out over the lawn. The less formal of these rooms is just as stylish but has a bigger smart TV and a log burning stove in the fire place (photo coming soon). Both rooms have tall original sash windows that look out to the front of the house over the driveway and on to the paddock.

Up the main stair case on to the first floor there are two huge bedrooms at the front of the house with views over the wild flower IMG_2719flower paddock and a corridor with three bedrooms and the large family bathroom off it to the rear. The bedrooms to the rear of the house all have large double beds, either king or superking in size. Two of these bedrooms are very large and have plenty of built in storage, one of them has a lovely en-suite shower room. The third and smaller of the bedrooms has a really pretty wallpaper decorated with wild flowers and birds and overlooks the large garden. The family bathroom is a good size and IMG_2698has a gigantic double ended bath and separate walk in ‘rain’ shower. At the front of the house is the master bedroom which has a gorgeous eye-catching wallpaper and a lovely large bed. There is plenty of built in storage, an antique dressing table and a good sized en-suite with a drencher shower above the large bath which has a built in head rest. All of the showers in Brecks House are Mira digital showers meaning the hot water is instant and easily controllable with mains water pressure. The other bedroom at the front of the house is a twin which IMG_2651again has loads of built in storage and has useful full sized trundle beds which can be pulled out and made up to bring the overall occupancy of the house up to 16 (please let us know if these beds are required and give us at least two weeks notice).

IMG_2692Up the stairs again and on to the second floor where two antique leather chairs sit either side of a semi circular window on the landing, a perfect quite spot to sit quietly and contemplate, read a book or just enjoy the lovely view. On the this floor are two further good sized bedrooms a king sized double and a twin both with lovely views over the wild flower paddock from their dormer windows. There is also another shower room with drencher shower.

IMG_2727The house offers free unlimited broadband for its occupants and there are numerous WIFI range boosters throughout the house meaning that you will find good WIFI signal wherever you are inside. This is a nice touch and is something that easily and often overlooked in larger holiday lets.

IMG_2744Externally the main garden is just under an acre in size and split in to two sections. There is a large patio which has a big custom made table and benches and can be covered with a spectacular, huge white ‘sail’ to offer protection from the weather whether it is good or bad! The large paddock directly in front of the house is a wonderful play area for children and pooches and from Spring until Autumn is full of wild flowers.

151016-Breck-023One of this properties ‘claims to fame’ is that it was hit by a bomb from a WWI Zeppelin that was dumping its remaining bombs on its way back to Germany after an air raid. There are interesting photos and newspaper clippings from the time documenting the event framed in the house.

tennisBrecks House is the ultimate large family holiday home and is also absolutely perfect for all sorts of occasions from birthdays to weddings, anniversaries to corporate getaways. Its beautiful rural location is lovely and quiet, away from all of the hustle and bustle of the coast but it can be reached in around 45 minutes lovely walk following the footpaths or around five minutes by car. It is also only five minutes drive from the renowned Georgian market town of Holt and its shops, restaurants and pubs.
