Regular visitors to the delightful coastal village of Blakeney will already be aware of its hidden gems – charming cottages tucked away down pretty little ‘lokes’ or courtyards off the lanes which make up the old village. Loades cottage is one such gem, a converted fishermans cottage in an ideal position being just a short stroll from the quay and all the amenities in the heart of the village.
The cottage is accessed by a pretty footpath bordered by country flowers such as hollyhocks and honeysuckle in the summer. Loades Cottage has been recently renovated and decorated by the charming owner who has owned the pretty cottage for many years. The sitting room is comfortably furnished with a sofa and small arm chairs clustered around the log burning stove and there is a flatscreen TV with dvd for evenings in. A round pine dining table and chairs sit neatly in an area formed by the open tread stairs and is situated conveniently next to the kitchen.
The kitchen is ‘galley style’ with everything conveniently placed within easy reach; an electric oven with halogen hob, fridge/freezer, small dishwasher, toaster, kettle etc.
The open tread stairs in the sitting room lead up to a small landing where there are the two light and airy bedrooms and bathroom. The double bedroom has a pretty set of floral prints on the wall and the floral theme is echoed by the rosy print curtains and cushions. There is a fitted wardrobe cupboard for hanging clothes and there are drawers in the dressing table for more storage. The single bedroom has a comfortable 3 foot bed with painted bedstead and matching bedside table. Cheery checked curtains and cushions make this room suitable for adults or a child.
The bathroom, decorated in seaside blue, has a white suite including an electric shower above the bath.
Outside the front of the cottage is a double bench surrounded by pots of flowers, and ideal spot to sit out enjoying your morning coffee or a well deserved drink after a day enjoying the delights of this lovely part of North Norfolk.
The owner of Loades cottage is happy to accept a well behaved dog and has kept the floors downstairs conveniently easy to clean but of course dogs must abide by ‘house rules’ and are not allowed upstairs.
