The Roost

When the delightful new owners of the Roost came to us with their ideas for updating a well placed property in the lovely coastal village of Blakeney, wethought their ideas sounded amazing! We are so excited to be able to offer our discerning guests this fabulous house which has been totally transformed. Situated just a 5 minute stroll to the quay, The Roost offers top quality accommodation for eight in four bedrooms all with en suite facilities, with both a pretty garden and parking for four cars. The house is open, light and airy for the warm summer months and yet cosseting and cosy for winter visitors with its full LPG gas central heating and log burning stove.

Styled with its coastal location in mind, guests enter The Roost from its front covered veranda area into the fresh bright entrance hall, off which are all the ground floor rooms and stairs which lead up to the first floor. The largest room in the house and one that definitely has the wow! factor is the huge family room with its kitchen, dining and sitting areas. The kitchen with its clean cut white fitted units beneath a wooden work surface contains a double electric oven, halogen hob, and dishwasher, and a large fridge/freezer and is equipped with plenty of cooking equipment and crockery etc. The washing machine is housed in a small adjacent utility room that also contains a separate sink and the oil fired boiler for the house. The kitchen opens up into an incredible dining area which has high ceilings up to the rafters and has two sets of adjacent bi-fold doors leading into the garden. On summer days, with these doors open, guests can enjoy a lovely inside/outside ambiance with the covered rear terrace becoming part of the room as well. Completing the room is a comfy sitting area with a sofa
and rattan chairs. Other than the grey slate tiled floors in kitchen and bathrooms, all the flooring throughout the house pale oak which complements the interior design.

With the same eye for detail the owners have decorated the separate sitting room with neutral coastal tones for the enjoyment and comfort of their guests. The room has two lovely sofas and armchairs arranged around the wood burning stove. In this room is also a TV with freeview and Dvd to watch during quiet evenings in and a large bay window and French windows flood the room with light during daylight hours.

The Roost has two ground floor bedrooms, both with zip and link beds enabling them to be made up as two twins or 6ft super king beds on request – please make sure that you give us at least 2 weeks notice! The bedroom at the front of the house has an en suite shower room with walk in shower, washbasin and wc, whilst the rear bedroom has an en suite bathroom with shower over the bath, washbasin and wc. Both rooms are beautifully furnished, continuing the coastal decorative theme with soft blues, taupes and aquas which reflect the lovely light coming from the French windows in each of these rooms.

Stairs from the hall lead up to the first floor where to the left there is a large bedroom with a king size bed and an en suite bathroom fitted under the eaves with a hand held shower just above the bath, washbasin, bidet and wc. To the right of the stairs is a sweet bedroom tucked under the eaves containing two single beds and made very light from two large velux windows. Just outside this room is the fourth bathroom in the house containing a bath with shower above, washbasin and wc. It goes without saying that these two rooms are also beautifully thought out, furnished and decorated.

To the side of the property and viewed from the huge bi-fold doors in the family room is the fully enclosed and private garden including covered terrace area with table and chairs for alfresco dining. There is a lovely lawn which is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs giving both sun drenched areas and dappled shade to suit all. To the rear of the property are separate gravelled sitting and utility spots and of course there is always the superb ‘eastern seaboard’ inspired verandah at the front of the house to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet this pretty house offers.
