We first met the charming owners of Marsh View Cottage before they started renovations there and now on completion of the major works, the finished cottage exceeds all our expectations! The pretty period property is situated in the heart of the conservation coastal village of Cley, close to all the amenities there and unusually has both a pretty garden and dedicated parking for two cars. The coastal path is a stone’s throw away from the cottage which has views over the salt marsh from the front bedroom windows and Wiveton Church can be glimpsed over the Glaven Valley water meadows to the rear.
The cottage is extremely spacious and light with excellent use of space including a large open plan dining hall and kitchen. The dining hall has a large pine topped table, a dresser full of attractive studio pottery in glazed cupboards above and below are housed various board games. A painted cupboard contains a stereo cd player with i-pod connection and a digital radio with a small selection of cds. There is a log burner housed in the dining room fireplace and what with the under floor heating the tonal slate tiles and wall mounted contemporary radiators, the house is wonderfully cosy in all seasons!
The kitchen has a glass roof which makes the whole area wonderfully light and bright and is well equipped with painted units under an oak work surface and include a Bosch electric oven, halogen hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and funky microwave oven! The kitchen leads to the rear hall way/utility room with a washing machine and sink, there is plenty of room for a dog bed in this good sized area. A stable door accesses the pretty enclosed rear garden and is the ideal entrance when returning from coastal walks with children and dogs etc. Off the rear hall is a compact shower room with washbasin and wc, the shower having both a ‘drench’ shower head and hand held head within a matching slate tiled enclosure.
The sitting room is very cosy and stylish with a sofa and chairs arranged around the fireplace with log burning stove. A large television is unobtrusively fitted in an alcove above the fireplace and the PS3 media/Blu Ray player is fitted to the side. There is a comprehensive collection of books is housed in a tall bookcase. As with all the rooms in the cottage, great care and attention have been paid to the finished look and practicality of the room, with carefully sourced artworks and china.
Stairs lead from the dining hall to first floor, and off the landing are two delightful bedrooms, both with their own washbasins and the main bathroom. The ‘master bedroom’ is generously sized and easily houses the super king bed which can be split as two singles on request (two weeks notice required). The room has windows to both the front and the rear of the property with the views described above and has pretty antique furniture including a bow fronted chest, pembroke table and dressing mirror. Hooks with hangers provide the clothes hanging space in this room. The second bedroom has a king size bed and dual aspect windows to the front and side of the cottage and again has pretty furnishings including a wardrobe and metal clothes shelves. The bathroom on this floor has both a walk in shower with both drench head and hand held shower, and a panelled bath, washbasin and wc, all within a light,airy room overlooking the garden and the Glaven Valley water meadows.
We have fallen in love with this very stylish cottage and love the gentle heritage colours used to great effect here, complimenting the eclectic mix of lovely furnishings, fabrics, paintings and pottery. It is ideal for both couples enjoying a weekend away or family holidays and the owners do welcome a well behaved dog as long as the house- rules are adhered to! We are sure you are all going to enjoy staying at Marsh View and are certain it will be a favourite with all our guests!
