Appletree Cottage

Sharrington

We first met the charming owners of Appletree Cottage before they started their overhaul of this delightful, Norfolk brick and flint cottage and now, on completion of the works, the finished cottage exceeds all of our expectations! This pretty period property is situated in the heart of the conservation village of Sharrington with everything North Norfolk has to offer within a short drive. The beautiful coastal villages of Blakeney, Cley and Salthouse, the stunning beaches at Wells and Holkham and the fabulous Georgian market town of Holt with its boutique independent shops, eateries and amenities.

With lovely rural views from the first floor Appletree Cottage has a good-sized parking area
for three cars and a large rear garden that is bordered by fields on two sides. This property also has the superb and rare feature of a four seater hot-tub sitting on the large patio, overlooking the pretty garden. (For info on how to book the hot-tub see the end of blurb).

The cottage interior has been superbly finished. The lovely interior design makes this gorgeous property, so unassuming from the roadside, a truly special place to stay. The ground floor has been opened up and extended to provide two large living spaces both extremely spacious and light, an excellent use of the space available. The dining area has two separate glass doors that open out onto the patio and is furnished beautifully with a large antique pine table, sideboard and console table. There is a door leading to the stairway which can be shut off which, alongside its open plan nature, makes the ground floor a very child friendly space.

The kitchen has twin aspect, floor to ceiling glazed walls and is open to the vaulted ceiling making it a wonderfully light and bright space which is a joy to spend time in. It is very well equipped with hand painted units under solid oak work surfaces. Integrated in to the units is a ‘Stoves’ range cooker, washer/drier and dishwasher and there is a large separate fridge freezer. This gorgeous room also has French Doors out on to the large patio which has and outdoor table and chairs to seat 8.

The large sitting room is split in to two areas, both of which are very cosy and stylish. The more formal sitting area has the most beautiful, blue corner sofa which is off set perfectly against a rattan arm chair with mustard velvet cushions. These gorgeous soft furnishings are arranged around an open fireplace and a large television sits on a stylish mirrored chest. The second sitting area has a smaller sofa, dressed with cushions and throws, sitting underneath a wonderfully eclectic selection of artworks. This area also has a TV and is the perfect space for children to sit and enjoy some classic Disney whilst Mum and Dad relax in the more formal area.

Stairs lead from the dining area to first floor, and off the landing are three delightful bedrooms. The master has a king sized metal framed bed that blends perfectly with the beautiful feature wall behind, this room has built in storage and two large windows that breath in light. The bed in the second bedroom is also kingsized but this time an antique French style and there is also a twin bedroom. Both of these rooms have large windows overlooking the garden and fields beyond. The stylish bathroom has the most wonderful Moroccan style tiled floor. The enormous bath has been built to fit in to an unusual space and has a good quality shower above. All of the plumbing has been cleverly hidden which adds to the rooms superb finish.

Externally the enclosed south facing, garden is a very good size and sitting centrally is a large apple tree from which the house gets its name. The majority of the garden is laid to lawn but there is also a wonderful paved terrace with BBQ and outdoor furniture making the ideal space for al-fresco dining. On this terrace is this properties little extra bonus… a fabulous hot-tub that seats four!

We have fallen in love with this very stylish cottage and adore the gentle heritage colours used to great effect here, complimenting the eclectic mix of gorgeous furnishings, fabrics, paintings and pottery. It is ideal for both couples enjoying a weekend away or family holidays. We are sure you are all going to enjoy staying at Appletree Cottage and are certain it will be a favourite with all our guests!

NOTE: The hot-tub must be booked separately to the booking of the cottage and there is a £175 surcharge to cover the extra costs associated. If you wish to book the hot-tub please contact our office either by phone or e-mail. Please also note Appletree Cottage is not a dog friendly property.
