Glaven Cottage

Glaven Cottage is a pretty 2-3 bedroom old fisherman’s cottage situated down a wonderfully picturesque loke in the heart of Blakeney Village on the North Norfolk coast. The stylish, comfortable interior of the cottage was designed by Alexandra Johnson, using a delicious mix of designer fabrics and furnishings.

This gorgeous traditional Norfolk cottage oozes character; from the large inglenook fireplace in the sitting room and original feature fireplace in the bedroom to all of the wonderful exposed woodwork throughout. The ground floor has been opened up in to one spacious kitchen/dining/sitting room. In the sitting area there is a gorgeous comfy sofa covered in a wonderful teal velvet flanked by a traditional chesterfield and wing arm chair, all arranged around the huge inglenook fire place which houses a large log burner, ideal for cosy winter nights in. There is a large LED ‘Smart’ TV with FreeSat and DVD player cleverly hidden in a cabinet to the left of the fireplace. There is also a high quality Bowers & Wilkins iPod dock, and as with all of our properties it has free unlimited WIFI for guests use. The new bespoke built kitchen is a cooks paradise… very well equipped with its range cooker, halogen hob and built in extractor, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier all integrated beneath a handmade oak-wood work surface. The solid round bleached oak dining table that can seat up to 6 with it leaves extended, sits between the kitchen and sitting areas.

Upstairs the delightful original cottage staircase opens on to a surprisingly large hallway which, like the rest of the house, has exposed beams as well as an interesting arch window. Off this hallway are  2 bedroom, one king size and one double, and the good sized bathroom with a large roll top bath and fantastic shower with drencher head. Through the larger of the two bedrooms and up a steep set of ladder stairs is a lovely room designed as second sitting area or extra sleeping accommodation. This room has 2 single futon sofa beds which can be made up at a small extra cost. ( Do contact the cottage company if you would like these beds made up.) The view from this room is breathtaking – over the traditional pantile rooftops of Blakeney out across the salt marshes and to the sea beyond. There is a panoramic view that runs from Blakeney Point all the way to the cobble beach at Cley.

The charming owner of this lovely cottage worked closely with his inspired interior designer to give this cottage everything our guests could want for their holiday in beautiful Blakeney on the North Norfolk Coast.
