LetheringsettNestled in the picturesque village of Letheringsett, just a mile from the Georgian market town of Holt and a short drive from the sweeping North Norfolk coastline, Hobbs Cottage is perfectly positioned for those looking to slow the pace and embrace the simple pleasures of Norfolk life.
Dating back to the 1870s, this charming flint cottage is full of character, blending original features with thoughtful modern comforts. Ideal for couples, small families or friends, Hobbs Cottage offers a warm and welcoming place to stay, where exposed beams, cottage-style interiors and peaceful surroundings make it easy to settle in and feel at home.
The cosy sitting room is the heart of the cottage, centred around a traditional wood burner set within a painted brick fireplace. Sink into the comfortable sofa with a good book, enjoy a film on the Smart TV or simply unwind as the fire crackles after a day exploring the coast and countryside.
The country-style kitchen is well equipped for preparing everything from leisurely breakfasts to relaxed evening meals, featuring an oven, hob, under-counter fridge, slimline dishwasher, microwave and pod coffee machine. Whether you have picked up fresh local produce from Holt or seafood from the nearby villages of Cley next the Sea or Blakeney, it is a welcoming space to cook, dine and spend time together. The renovated ground floor family bathroom combines rich blue tiling with exposed beams and a deep bath, creating the perfect place for an indulgent soak after coastal walks or countryside adventures.
Upstairs, three inviting bedrooms provide comfortable accommodation for up to four guests. The spacious master bedroom is a restful retreat, featuring a king-size bed, built-in wardrobe space and the added comfort of a private en-suite shower room. A bright twin bedroom overlooks the garden, while the cosy single bedroom provides a restful retreat.
The substantial garden is one of Hobbs Cottage’s most enchanting features. Mature planting creates a series of peaceful spaces to enjoy throughout the day, from morning coffee beneath the weeping willow to leisurely lunches on the sunny patio. At the far end of the garden lies the fernery, a secluded seating area which backs onto a millpond. This hidden sanctuary is a haven for wildlife; the millpond attracts swans, deer, frogs, bats, butterflies and an abundance of birdlife. Whether you are enjoying an evening glass of wine as the sun begins to set or simply sitting quietly, the fernery invites you to reconnect with nature.
Letheringsett is a quaint village with riverside walks, the historic watermill and excellent access to the surrounding countryside. Just beyond the cottage is a charming wooden footbridge which crosses the historic River Glaven ford. Within 5 minutes’ walk is The King’s Head pub, recently awarded 2 AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence. A walk across the fields and then along an old railway line takes you into the centre of Holt and to the independent boutiques, bookstores, and cafes. Within a 10-minute drive are Cley, Blakeney, Morston, and Salthouse, where you can pick up the famous walking trail the Norfolk Coast Path. There is so much to explore from Hobbs Cottage.
The driveway accommodates parking fortwo medium-sized vehicles.
Please note that, due to the millpond at the end of the garden, Hobbs Cottage is not suitable for children under the age of 8 years. While this tranquil setting is one of the cottage’s most enchanting features, we ask guests to bear this in mind when booking.
Typical of 1870s cottages, the stairway up to the bedrooms is steep and therefore not suitable for those with limited mobility.
No pets are permitted at Hobbs Cottage.
