White House is a delightful detached brick and flint cottage dating back to the 1700s, with a lovely garden. The cottage is situated along a quiet lane, with the Wiveton Bell gastro-pub few minutes walk away. It is within easy reach of the shops, cafés and pubs of Blakeney, Salthouse and Cley-next-the-Sea. The lovely Georgian market town of Holt is also nearby. White House has been fully renovated to create a comfortable, peaceful retreat close to the sea, yet away from the busy coast road.
The welcoming kitchen features a large bay window overlooking the garden. It has a fresh blue and white colour scheme and tiled floor. A Rayburn range keeps the room cosy whatever the weather, and the kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
An oak-framed glass door opens into a dining hall at the centre of the house with windows into the conservatory. The large pine table comfortably seats six, and along one wall are bookshelves crammed with plenty of great holiday reading material. An oak staircase leads to the first floor.
The larger of the two sitting rooms at the front of the house has a wood-burning stove, TV/DVD player, sofa and armchairs – everything you need for cosy evenings in. Connecting doors open into the spacious and tranquil conservatory, furnished with sofa and chairs.
The second sitting room, with Bose radio/CD player, armchairs and work table, can be used as a quiet ‘snug’ or office area. This is very useful for guests needing to do a little work while on holiday – the free Wi-Fi helps too.
There is a downstairs bathroom with toilet, hand basin, and shower.
Upstairs are two king-size bedrooms, both of which have a light and airy feel. They each have a large built-in wardrobe and plenty of hanging and drawer space. A selection of ‘arts and crafts’ style fabrics complement the simple and practical accommodation.

The house has oil-fired central heating.
The owners converted a former farm building at the end of the garden into the third bedroom. This large, high-ceilinged room has French windows onto the garden, a double bed, sofa and chairs, hanging and drawer space, and a DVD player. The ensuite bathroom has an electric shower, toilet and basin, with a washing machine and tumble dryer tucked neatly away behind a cupboard door.
Outside is the cottage garden, planted with traditional flowers and shrubs and abundant roses, with an outlook across the fields towards Blakeney church. The sheltered garden catches plenty of sun all day long, so it’s ideal for alfresco dining. The gravel driveway provides parking for two cars.
You’re welcome to bring your doggie chums along to enjoy their stay at White House. There’s a charge of £20 per dog, and owners must read the house rules and clear up all evidence of their stay both inside and outside the cottage.
Wiveton boasts some spectacular food and drink hot spots. The multi award-winning Wiveton Bell is one of the best pubs in the area. Wiveton Hall Café, another gastronomic highlight of North Norfolk, hosts BBQ and tapas nights throughout the summer. Boasting far-reaching views across the marshes and out to sea, it’s also the location of a ‘pick your own’ farm with some of the best strawberries, raspberries and asparagus in the country. The Art Café at Glandford serves delicious, locally sourced vegetarian dishes and artisan coffee, while the Dun Cow at Salthouse and the George at Cley are excellent pubs with great food and views over the marshes. A ten-minute walk to Cley brings you to a wonderful deli and the very special Cley Smokehouse.
Wiveton is a perfect starting point for walks across the marshes to Blakeney, Cley beach and Salthouse, or over Wiveton Dow, a site of special scientific interest and nature reserve. It is an ideal base for bird-watchers, with the RSPB reserves at Cley and Titchwell within easy reach.
Ideally placed in the quiet conservation village of Wiveton, and close to the coastal villages of Blakeney, Cley, and the Georgian market town of Holt, we’re sure you’ll love this charming cottage.
