The Church
School Next The Church is an imaginative conversion of an old village school offering amazingly spacious and luxurious accommodation in the beautiful village of Great Snoring. Situated right next to the church, as one might imagine, this characterful property is reached from a gravel drive leading to the house over a large lawn, dotted with apple trees and bordered with pretty flower beds. It has great views over pasture to the rear beyond a garden with mature trees and shrubs – a lovely spot for the children to play or to sit and savour a glass of wine!
Through the imposing front door there is a large porch off which there is a large shower room, and then into the magnificent living area open up to the rafters with woodburning stove and comfy sitting area with three sofas, TV with freeview and DVD, iPod docking station and a selection of games for cosy evenings in in front of the large wood burner. There is a wonderful wooden kitchen with halogen hob, dishwasher, fridge and seperate freezer, that is separated from the dining area with wooden cupboards. The whole room has real WOW factor because it is so light and airy and beautifully furnished.

The whole room has real WOW factor because it is so light and airy and beautifully furnished.
There is an outhouse around 10 metres from the front door of the property that is used as a laundry and is home to a washing machine and tumble drier.
Beyond the kitchen is the very large double bedroom with a TV and DVD and an ensuite bathroom with rain shower above the bath, again beautifully furnished. At the other end of the sitting room a metal spiral staircase leads up to a galleried area off which is a pretty bedroom, with a sink and zip and link beds making it ideal for families or two couples.
School Next The Church a well-loved holiday home and we are delighted that the charming family who own it have decided to share it with us. Great Snoring is an ideal base from which to explore this part of North Norfolk and is placed very conveniently for Burnham Market, Holkham with its magnificent beach and spectacular hall, and all the special coastal villages from Brancaster to Blakeney.

Mal, January 2026The School-Next-The-Church is a great space, in a quiet spot. The upstairs bedroom means a long walk down the metal spiral staircase in the middle of the night if you need the loo, but the ground floor bedrooms are perfectly situated with an en-suite for the main bedroom in the most recent addition to the building, and only a couple of steps for the other. The kitchen’s well-stocked, the sofas comfy and the heating works brilliantly even with so many single-glazed windows in the main room. The outhouse with the washing machine is actually on the drive, which can fit two or three cars depending on size. We spent Christmas week there and it had been nicely dressed for the season, so thank you Blakeney Cottage Co.!

The only thing that spoiled it for us was that we saw a mouse in the living room on the second night. The host responded quickly and sent pest control around the next day to put traps down…but after that it was hard to relax.
