Shelducks

Cley Next The Sea

Shelducks is a lovely family holiday home in the heart of Cley-next-the-Sea, just a short stroll from Cley windmill, the coastal path and Picnic Fayre!

Light streams through the windows at the front of Shelducks, making it bright and airy. With an enclosed courtyard garden at the rear and parking for one car it is extremely convenient as well as superbly placed for all the amenities in Cley.

One enters the property in to the large kitchen/dining room… the kitchen is very well equipped with a brushed stainless steel range cooker and halogen hob, microwave, Dualit toaster, orange press, dishwasher and a large American style fridge freezer with ice maker and the dining table comfortably seats six.

Off this room is a corridor which leads to the pretty sun room with large French doors that open on to the courtyard garden. The sitting room is large, bright and stylishly decorated, there is a good sized T.V and the most wonderful wood burner. There is also a utility room on the ground floor with a washing machine and a W.C.

On the first floor are two good-sized double bedrooms and a twin room, the main family bathroom and another W.C. The spacious master bedroom has a 6 foot double bed, ensuite shower room and like all of the bedrooms is thoughtfully decorated and very light. There is also a snug on the second floor with a LCD T.V. freeview and a DVD player as well as board games and books – more than enough to keep the children occupied whilst you relax downstairs!

Outside to the rear of the property is the enclosed courtyard garden with a large outside table and chairs and a BBQ for alfresco dining on summers evenings and the car port for guests parking.

Cley Next The Sea is famous for its beautiful windmill… gorgeous candle lit evening meals are available there (booking advised). Its wonderful smoke house, award winning delicatessen and a super gastro pub; The George are all just a stones throw away. The village is a mecca for nature lovers with the new RSPB centre just outside the village and wonderfully unspoilt pebbly beach. Blakeney is just about half a mile up the road and within easy walking distance.

Shelducks has everything a family or group of friends could possibly want; spacious accommodation with outdoor space and parking in one of North Norfolks most beautiful and popular villages. With central heating and the lovely woodburner it is as warm and cosy in winter as it is bright and airy in Summer – phone us now – we can sometimes give very advantageous rates if smaller groups wish to stay out of season in this wonderful house!

*Please note, the parking area does not accommodate tall vehicles/vehicles with a roof rack

*Please note, not all cottages with a woodburner supply logs for guests.

The kitchen was so well kitted out. We made terrific breakfasts every morning after our beautiful early dog walks along the marshes and coast. Dreamy! And there is a terrific deli and pub in the village which did not require reservations made three months prior to our arrival! Great little break with the kids and our furry lab too!

We had a wonderful family holiday in Shelducks, with our 3 teens. The house is a spacious, family home, in which we instantly felt very comfortable. Every room is thoughtfully furnished; especially the kitchen, which has cupboards full of excellent quality utensils and crockery. We were touched by the amount of games/books/ornaments etc which were there for our use – everything had been thought about.
The house is situated perfectly to explore the North Norfolk Coast. We enjoyed the ‘wilder’ side, with walks and bird watching across the marshes and plenty of sea swims from Cley beach, but it’s not far to the more touristy, but still beautiful, towns of Sheringham and Holt, or the National Trust Estates of Felbrigg and Blickling. That’s after stocking up beforehand from the Cley Smokehouse, opposite, or the delicatessen round the corner, all nicely ending with a drink in The George!
We rarely return to the same place for a holiday, but we are definitely tempted to at Shelducks

A great week with family. Ample room for 6 people.
Clean and as described. Fully equipped kitchen.
Fantastic location with the beach walking distance plus a fabulous deli across the road and the famous Smokehouse just opposite.
A couple of negatives (I’m being picky): Very narrow gateway and parking space – it tested my parking and reversing skills haha, but I managed to avoid scraping the car.
The mattresses are also in need of changing – the springs have gone in the spare and twin rooms. Not a massive issue but others may be more bothered by it.
All in all, we felt it was worth the money and would return. Cley is a special place. Many happy memories made.

Lovely property and as described. Rooms were clean and well presented. Peaceful location with some wonderful walks to the sea and to Blakeney. Only issue was we arrived after dark and couldn’t see there was actually two key safes. We picked the wrong one and couldn’t access the key thinking it was broken. In a panic we called James but got his answer phone. Then searched around the patio area again to find a second key safe which was the correct one. Would have been good to add to the notes there are two key safes identifying the correct one or perhaps just remove the old one! But overall it was a lovely stay in Cley and a nice cottage.

Another wonderful stay at Shelducks in Cley, booked through Blakeney Cottage Company.

Blakeney Cottage Company came to our rescue – we’d booked other accommodation through a different company but it was absolutely awful so only stayed for one night. Thankfully, after a brief search, we saw that Shelducks was free for our remaining few days, so we moved down the road to there.

Blakeney Cottage Company were so quick to help us, sorted everything out the moment we got in touch and got Shelducks ready for us in super quick time. We didn’t originally book through Blakeney as had no flexibility on the dates we could visit, but understand there can now be some flexibility on dates depending on when you visit (i.e. you don’t necessary have to book for the whole week), which is great.

Shelducks was as lovely as we remembered. In pristine condition – it’s clearly very well maintained. Beds are really comfy and the cottage is equipped with everything you could ever possibly need!

Thank you Blakeney Cottage Company for saving our holiday!

Situated in a wonderful quaint north Norfolk village, with delicatessen, smoke house, cafe with marsh view and hand crafted art stores all within a few seconds walk. The local beach in Cley is great for a swim, and beyond that you have great beaches for children to play to their hearts content. The property itself has relaxed feel and is comfortable for adults and children alike.Rooms: 5/5?
